Brian Meehan and Sean Levey unveiled a colt that we had all been waiting for today at Newbury Racecourse. A colt by Night Of Thunder out of Kentucky Belle named Isaac Shelby after the first governor of Kentucky took the first division of the 6 1/2 furlong maiden in convincing fashion.
He broke well sitting just off the pace and when asked coming into the final furlong put the race to bed very professionally looking like a horse with a bright future.
He was purchased from the GoffsUK Sale for £92,000 a strong price for the Manton Thoroughbreds partnership, but he was a colt that we were not going to back down on. He had a lot of quality about him at the time, he was a horse that still looked raw not your typical Doncaster yearling.
The race today would suggest that 7 furlongs would not be out of his reach next time, possible whispers of the Superlative Stakes Group 2 at Newmarket would give him plenty of time to prepare.
